Kettlebell Training- Secret Tips

I got asked the question again last week after training: "What do you think about kettlebells?"
Not a lot really- I hardly ever think about them, I have too much else to do.

I don't really spend a lot of time thinking about medicine balls, dumbbells, barbells, sandbags or beer kegs either.

Instead, I look at how an athlete needs to improve and see what I can do to help them. I look at what facilities are available, how many athletes are training in an area and what equipment we can afford.

Next year I am sure I will hear about some other secret to success and then get athletes asking me if it really works. I don't really mind people asking me about this stuff, I give the same answer: They are a tool to help you do your job.
What I do mind is when people say with a certain smug satisfaction that "we do a lot of kettlebell training", or we do "cleans", as if they have described a secret but superior method of training.

Why not say " I use a progressive training method that looks at each athlete as an individual, and I use a variety of tools to help me achieve that."?

Once again, someone, somewhere is making a lot of money- good luck to them. For my mind, dumbbells are cheaper and pretty useful, most people could afford a set at home. That's not to say that I am advocating only dumbbells! You can do Turkish get ups, cleans, snatches, single and double arms pretty well with both.

Most gyms I work in have very limited space, I would rather have more room for athletes to jump up and down a bit, than be hampered by stacks of equipment.
